cluepad collects nothing. This page explains what that means precisely.
Your notes
Everything you write stays in a single encrypted file on your own Mac, under Application Support. It is never uploaded, never synced, and never seen by anyone but you. cluepad has no servers to send it to.
Analytics and crash reports
There are none. cluepad does not track launches, feature use, or anything else, and it contains no third-party SDKs.
Your licence
Licence keys are verified on your Mac against a key built into the app. Activating does not contact any server, so we cannot see when or where you use cluepad.
Network access
cluepad connects to the internet for exactly two things, both of which you trigger: opening the purchase page in your browser, and checking for an update. Neither sends anything about you.
What we do hold
If you buy cluepad, our payment provider processes your payment and we keep a record of the licence we issued: your email, your name if you gave one, the order number, and the key. That is what lets us re-send a lost key. It is not used for anything else and it is never sold or shared.
If you email support, we keep that email. Ask us to delete it and we will.
Screen recording permission
cluepad does not request permission to record your screen for normal use. A future version will offer an optional self-test that verifies your notes really are hidden; that test needs the permission, will ask before using it, and only ever looks at cluepad’s own window.
